If i can get the box back in today and put all the sundries back on tomorrow, i'll be pleased.
G60 O2J SWAP CRACK
Oh Well, i better get up there and crack on.

I understand why people dont take loads of pics as mobiles dont react well the greasy gloves or fingers. Looking forward to that with great eagerness ! Loadsa clutch material in the bell housing, gave it all a clean ( and pulled the top of the speed sensor off - it pushed back on so hope its ok )
G60 O2J SWAP DRIVERS
No walk through has mentioned the small tin plate held by 1 x 10mm that covers the area where the drivers side drive shaft is, GRRRR I tied a tow rope round the box & lowered it from above onto a thick piece of acoustic insulation just in case it fell.

I wondered why people would crack open the slave cylinder feed & then have to bleed it, so just removed it with the 2 x 13mm bolts complete ( the one on the left is tight to the casing so a thin socket is required ) I took the passenger drive shaft out completely to get more room & managed to get the power steering tubes clear. The poxy speed sensor at the back of the box bell housing is poor design with the connector release facing down so its a bugger to undo. Lucky im in a position of not having to rush the job as its not my current daily & my friends garage at his music studio only has my car in & normally only used for storage.Ĭame across so many things that havnt been explained in many of the walk throughs. Ive got the flywheel & clutch in and will be going back up the garage for another session late this afternoon. Got to 10pm last night & called it a day. ps that is if you have the 6 speed with the internal slave-cylinder if you have the 5 speed with the external slave cylinder you don't have to bleed it just tie it out of the northpole. just so you know in the end Evil noticed it and that was almost the last bit we had to do, apart from bleeding the clutch just to find the slave cylinders oil pipe seal needed replacing. and it is a straight fit for the engine mount on top but that one needs to have a extra tread in the middle to keep the airco pipe in it's place. So yeah just do your thing mate like i said it ain't rocket science and you might want to keep the bolts that come from the dogbone mount together.when we finally put evils car back together i was looking for the centre bolt. I also cleaned every single part that came off, the engine bay, engine and a few other bits that needed cleaning up(not to mention cleaning my tools afterwards and the space outside in the parking lot) no incidents than or any other time i did a clutch. i did that one in 5 days as not only did i replace the whole clutch setup.
G60 O2J SWAP PLUS
plus on the vectra you have to lower the subframe. i counted 26 bolts by the time i could finally split the gearbox 19 of which were bell housing to engine and engine to bell housing. That all said, i've done countless gearboxes including the one on my vectra and let me tell you the golf is a breeze compared to how vauxhall added extra bolts to secure it to the engine. lovely innit? I think it was because i wanted it done asap but didn't want to break stuff as it wasn't my car, plus i had half the street talking to me while trying to work and stay calm and focused. but still I have a fat thumb with scar tissue, that is very very very sensitive (and that is no laughing matter)after my second visit to A&E they finally scanned it and the bone is fractured so my thumb is still filled with fluids. and whatever you do don't get fed up and angry as yes you'll get it out but it can cost you the use of one of your digits lol. if it gets stuck you won't get it out and if the engine is still sitting straight it'll stay put, use a scissor jack between the engine and the firewall when you have the lot split and turned so it comes out in one go.
G60 O2J SWAP FREE
Isn't difficult but make sure the gearbox is free of the chassis.
